TTT1815 April 9 Sam Brody MN Post-Prof Kate Reise (sp?)
If engaged and informed citizens are the heart of democracy, how do we citizens really know what’s going on? Fortunately, good journalists are still at work, providing facts and analysis on the issues important to Minnesotans. Sam Brodey, Washington correspondent for MinnPost, shares insights on the policies and personalities shaping politics in Congress and the presidency.
Meanwhile, scientists continue to defend their pursuit of fact-based knowledge. Dr. Kate Ries, assistant professor of chemistry at Metropolitan State University, explains why she is participating in the March for Science again this year.

TTT1813 March 26 Mapping Predjudice Project, Tax Da
Inspired by the idea that we cannot address the inequities of the present without understanding the past, the Mapping Prejudice Project is developing the first-ever comprehensive map of racially based housing restrictions in an American city. These restrictions, known as racial covenants, prevented people of color from buying or occupying property. This hidden form of structural racism continues to impact our cities to this day.
Meanwhile, here in the present, federal tax policy continues to reinforce the class divide, and this year’s legislation is worse than ever.
To help us understand both past and present, TruthToTell welcomes two experts from the Mapping Prejudice Project, Kirsten Delegard and Kevin Ehrman-Solberg, as well as organizers of the Tax Rally Minnesota, 2018.

TTT1811 March 12 Etnic Cleansing-Genocide
In the aftermath of International Women’s Day, TruthToTell features a Twin Cities–based effort to support women who have been sexually assaulted by the Myanmar military. Teaming up with ActionAid USA, local organizers are raising funds to supply Dignity Kits for women and girls in Bangladesh refugee camps. The kits include a change of clothes, sanitary pads, clean underwear, slippers, soap, disinfectant, and a solar lantern.
Since August 25, 2017, more than 680,000 Rohingyan refugees have crossed into Bangladesh fleeing violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. TruthToTell highlights this inspiring effort to support women and girls in the camps and explores the underlying causes of the genocidal campaign against them.
