Our series of conversations with Minnesota gubernatorial candidates begins with Republican Mathew Kruse, who is challenging GOP-endorsed candidate Jeff Johnson and former governor Tim Pawlenty in the August 14 primary. To provide some ideological contrast, we’ll also talk with local members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), who are celebrating a victory of one of their own:  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who last week beat longtime New York City congressman Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary. In the weeks ahead, TruthToTell will be interviewing several other candidates for governor, including Johnson, DFL-endorsed Erin Murphy, and DFL challenger Tim Walz. Stay tuned!
