With the Easter Recess upon us, Congress has been scrambling. Last Thursday (4/14), the umpteenth budget resolution was passed WITHOUT approving cuts in Medicare and Medicaid and without defunding Planned Parenthood through September 30th. But…Friday, an onerous Tea Party budget tried to trick members, but Democrats voted “Present” and threw a monkey wrench into the trickery and the Senate got the budget originally agreed-to.
Are Democrats going to be able to keep the Republicans from decimating the social compact the President insists must remain in any budget he signs? Where are we going on Afghanistan War? Will we ever leave? Who will stop the drones from killing innocents abroad? Can anyone stand up to an encroaching FBI?
What about federal funding for our local projects – especially the Central Corridor and the Stillwater Bridge fiasco?
