Almost one year into the Trump presidency, hostile tweets, negative court decisions, and a sharp uptick in deportations signal hard times for immigrants and refugees. All across Minnesota, however, citizens are sending a message of tolerance and resistance. At issue is not only the fate of those under attack, but the kind of society we want to build. Joining TruthToTell are leaders of two organizations committed to human rights and greater public understanding of Minnesota’s immigrant and refugee communities: • Michelle Garrett McKenzie, deputy director and director of advocacy for the Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights • Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the Minnesota Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)
