TTT1804 January 22 Haiti-Puerto Rico

It’s one thing for President Trump to demean countries where black and brown people are the majority, but even more disturbing is the number of Americans who seem to agree. How do we talk about nations that clearly have challenges, but also have rich cultures, resilient people, and all too often a history of exploitation by colonial powers, including the United States. For starters, TruthToTell will discuss two places (a country and a commonwealth) that our president has recently demeaned. Our guests are April Knutson, professor in the Master of Liberal Studies Program at the University of Minnesota and a Haiti advocate, and DFL State Senator Melisa Franzen, a member of the Puerto Rican–American community who is active in hurricane relief efforts.
