The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. launched the Poor People’s Campaign in 1967-68. It was a nationwide effort to persuade a reluctant Congress and White House to take comprehensive action against poverty. Fifty years later, poverty persists, but so does the determination of a new generation of activists.
